The Big Building & the Snow!

For those that have just joined us on Jackson’s blog I am adding this note. We are on a month-long road trip visiting the desert canyons in the American west. I enjoy traveling, but I always regret my best buddy can’t go on a lot of my adventures. This is one of two we have planned this year centered around Jackson joining in on the grand adventure. Jackson is going to be doing all of the blog posts. We will be posting our photographs on our Facebook pages (and a few here also!)

Woof, woof, what an adventure! After playing ball with my human at camp yesterday morning, now we are in a room in a big building. My human calls it a hotel! I got to ride in a box that moves up and down, ruff, that was fun. You may wonder why we are staying in this big building that has boxes that go up and down. We were supposed to go camping at a new place after camping at Colorado National Monument. It was nice at the monument, there were friendly people at the campground, it didn’t get cold, and the stars were out.

My human had been looking at the weather on that little thing he talks into and said it looked okay. He picked another place to go camping called Rifle Falls State Park. Ruff, when we got there is was cold and snowing. I told my human to go back to town and check the weather forecast. He finally listened to me, sometimes he is hard-headed about things. I knew when I saw the frozen lake and no humans camping something was wrong. He decided to drive east to to a place called Boulder, ruff, is that a big rock? I have seen a lot of big rocks on this trip. Well my human said we had better try to beat the storm to the highest mountain ahead of the storm, but we did not make it.

We got on the big fast road and drove and drove. Woof, at first everything looked fine but then we stopped in the middle of the road with the big trucks and cars and weren’t going anywhere. The snow started coming down harder and harder. We waited and waited and it snowed and snowed. Then my human got on the little thing he talks into and talked and waited and talked and waited. He had to drive on a part of the road he called the shoulder. It made a rumbling noise I don’t like. Then he had to weave around cars that were stopped on the road blocking his and other humans way. They just stopped when they could have moved out of the way. After we got around the stopped cars we drove and stopped at a big building. I had to sit in the truck and wait, and wait , and wait. Then Matt came out and started taking things out of the truck. Then he came and walked me around in the snow, I like snow, ruff! Then he took me in the big building with all the good smells and I met some humans that were staying here. A lot of humans are here.

Woof, woof, that’s my story and I’m stikin’ to it, Ruff!
